Cross-sector Forum (Hybrid): Building partnerships between alcohol and other drug (AOD) non-government organisations (NGO) and other health and human services

28 June 2022
9:30am – 4:00pm
Western Plains Cultural Centre, Dubbo, NSW

Join us for a hybrid cross-sector forum aimed at building partnerships between alcohol and other drug (AOD) non-government organisations (NGO) and other health and human services.

Collaborative practice across all health and human services is vital to best support the people we all serve. The cross sector forum provides a unique opportunity for NADA members and staff from other sectors to come together, hear from leading practitioners, network, and build a more connected system.
The cross-sector forum is organised and supported by NADA through a NSW Health funded project to strengthen and expand continuing care services for people experiencing alcohol and other drug use issues. Continuing care helps people achieve better outcomes across a range of AOD treatment settings and provides support in various ways, including assistance to maintain initial treatment goals, relapse prevention, providing referrals and connections to other sources of support, and addressing co-occurring issues, like homelessness, mental health problems, family and domestic violence and criminal justice involvement.

Following feedback from last year’s forum, this year’s event will focus on rural and regional areas. It will still be very relevant and informative for staff working anywhere across NSW. The forum is a hybrid event and will be held at the Dubbo Western Plains Cultural Centre as well as streamed via Zoom.

The forum aims to:

  • Improve coordination between NGO AOD and health and human services sectors,
  • Build partnerships across the sectors that will support staff to work collaboratively in order to improve outcomes for people experiencing AOD and other co-occurring issues,
  • Enhance collaborative practice and provide people with better access to quality, continuing care and integrated services,
  • Provide a forum for staff/services to network and connect.
