Self-care for Aboriginal AOD workers

24 May 2022
9:00am – 4:30pm
Karstens 1/11 Harrington Street The Rocks, Sydney, NSW

KULINGI TYARI WUNGURWIL (people standing strong)

This one-day workshop explores cultural issues for Aboriginal community workers within the AOD sector and identifies strategies to self-manage care within a professional setting. It encourages development of skills to address cultural complexities and maintain well-being whilst working within a health or community services setting.

The workshop aims to:

  • Increase understanding about trauma and its potential effect on workers,
  • Encourage workers to identify compassion fatigue and its effects,
  • Increase understanding of the importance of self-care within the workplace, and
  • Increase understanding around individual support requirements to address own care within the workplace.
