Working with women engaged in AOD treatment, and responding to domestic and family violence

3 November 2022
10:00am – 4:00pm
Duntryleague, Woodward Street, Orange, Wiradjuri Country, NSW
NADA is excited to be presenting this workshop on Wiradjuri Country, at Orange in Western NSW.  This workshop aims to enhance your skills for engaging with women accessing AOD treatment. It will bring to life the NADA Practice Guide: Working with women engaged in alcohol and other drug treatment that supports workers and organisations to improve work practices around becoming gender responsive, family inclusive and trauma informed.

Any staff working with women are encouraged to attend this workshop - it is not specific to women's only services and is helpful for anyone working with women in all types of service settings.

The workshop will discuss the unique experiences and perspectives of women accessing AOD services and will explore best practice responses to survivors/victims of domestic and family violence (DFV) within the context of AOD treatment. It will also discuss using the NADAbase DFV screener.

This workshop will help you further understand:
  • Women's experiences of AOD use and treatment,
  • Responding to survivors/victims of DFV in the context of AOD treatment,
  • NADAbase DFV screener,
  • Best practice approaches for engaging women, and
  • Actions for creating a gender-responsive organisation.
Please note the original date (22.09.22) for this training has been changed to the 3.11.22 due to the public holiday being scheduled for the 22nd September.
