Trauma informed approaches to healing and self-care: Preconference workshop

10 May 2023
9:00am – 4:00pm
Gadigal Land, Sydney, New South Wales
This one-day workshop will explore how to create safe, trauma-informed and healing oriented spaces in our work. We will reflect on a variety of practices informed by trauma responsive, person-centred and strengths-based approaches that actively work to resist re-traumatisation of the people we work with. This will be an opportunity to slow down, look around, have a play and to exhale as we reflect on our collective work. We will discuss why self, team and collective care is an essential component of trauma informed practice and how mindful embodiment can assist us to provide safe and collaborative relationships when working with people and communities experiencing inequity, discrimination and marginalisation. We do this work together, present, embodied and interconnected. To see a draft program, click here. About the facilitator

Silvana (she/her) is a somatic therapist who lives and works in Naarm, the unceded lands of the Kulin Nation.

She centres human rights and social justice in her practice and advocates for accessible, equitable and inclusive services and environments. Silvana works with people to develop intersectional understandings about structural oppressions and how to create the conditions of belonging, moving beyond trauma informed practice, towards community centred, liberatory and regenerative ecosystems of support.
