ACON's Community Health Programs team is looking for a self-starting, innovative and experienced Program Coordinator to oversee and deliver alcohol and other drugs, mental health, and needle and syringe programs. 

This role is responsible for the delivery and implementation of health promotion, harm reduction, community development and education strategies, and evaluation programs aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of sexuality and gender diverse communities in relation to alcohol and other drugs (AOD) and mental health.

The incumbent will oversee and manage needle and syringe program staff, Rovers volunteers and the Rainbow Mental Health Lived Experience Network.


  1. Experience or qualifications in community services, public health, health education, health promotion or public policy, including an understanding of current issues in AOD, mental health and harm reduction principles.
  2. Demonstrated experience in training and managing volunteers or teams.
  3. An understanding of social media and social marketing around health promotion, community development processes, peer education and support. 
  4. Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, including the ability to represent the organisation in a range of forums.
  5. Understanding of sexuality and gender diverse people and communities and their health needs.
  1. Lived experience of AOD use and/or mental health.
  2. A current NSW driver’s licence
