Position: AOD Intake Worker

Employment Status: Part time Position – 3 to 4 days a week

Award:  SCHADS Award - Level dependent upon qualifications and experience, plus superannuation and attractive salary packaging arrangements


ADFNSW which operates Kathleen York House, seeks a dynamic individual to be part of its multidisciplinary team. Kathleen York House is an abstinent based residential treatment facility supporting women in overcoming their Substance use disorders and reducing its harmful impact on their lives, the lives of their children, families and the community. 


Purpose of Position:

To Manage waiting list; Conduct face to face comprehensive assessments with potential clients; Relay information regarding potential clients to staff at team meetings; Liaise with clients prior to admission to make arrangements re: childcare, date of admission etc.; Complete service induction and admission paperwork with client on arrival to KYH; Set up client folder; program administration; and formal and informal support to Kathleen York House Clients and their children.

Requirement

Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualification in relevant field or substantial experience in the alcohol and other drugs field
  • Excellent understanding of the complex range of issues involved in substance use disorders, including for women caring for children, for young people and for people with co-occurring mental health problems
  • Experience in trauma, mental health issues and other comorbidities
  • Understanding of clinical issues in treating women with substance use disorders
  • Understanding of the policy, legal and regulatory environment for treatment of substance-use disorders and drug education, including child protection
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Current Drivers Licence and the ability to drive an automatic passenger vehicle 
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate

CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK: The successful applicant will be required to provide the results of a current Criminal Record Check and a Working with Children check – undertaken at their own cost. (This is a requirement for employment) .
