Description

ADFNSW-Kathleen York House is looking for an experienced and exceptional Support Worker on a Casual basis to join our team. ADFNSW currently operates Kathleen York House, a residential rehabilitation service for women with substance use disorders and their children, and its Aftercare program.


KYH requires AOD Support Workers

Employment Status: Casual Position

Award:  SCHADS Award - Level dependent upon qualifications and experience, plus superannuation and attractive salary sacrifice arrangements


Purpose of Position

To provide formal and informal support to Kathleen York House Clients and their children during evenings and weekends. This is a position that requires sleeping on site.

This role will be covered under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010. 


Requirement

Essential skills and qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field 
  • Experience in the alcohol and other drugs field
  • Excellent understanding of the complex range of issues involved in substance misuse, including for women caring for children, for young people and for people with co-occurring mental health problems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in a very team-orientated culture and environment
  • Understanding of clinical issues in treating substance-dependent women
  • Understanding of the principles of drug education
  • Understanding of the policy, legal and regulatory environment for treatment of substance-dependence and drug education, including child protection
  • Operating from a trauma informed approach (a trauma informed mindset)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate

• Minimum 3 years of experience in similar role

• Exceptional customer service skills and a can-do, team-oriented attitude  


Desirable

- Experience in facilitating Groups.

- Affiliation with professional body and experience in relative field

  • The acceptance of you to this position may be dependent on a successful Criminal record check and a Working with children check
  • The successful candidate will be a female. Kathleen York House considers being a woman a general occupation qualification for this position (s31 Anti-discrimination Act 1977)
