Apply now: NHMRC Emerging priorities and consumer driver research initiative 2024

The NHMRC has released an Medical Research Future Fund grant opportunity targeting AOD. Detailed instructions are available on the Grant Connect website:

There are four streams, focusing on:

  1. A multidisciplinary project, in partnership with consumers and health services, to identify and evaluate the risk and impact of increased access to alcohol on physical and mental health for First Nations people or young people.
  2. A multidisciplinary project, in partnership with consumers and health services, to identify and evaluate the risk and impact of polysubstance use and/or the use of new psychoactive substances on physical and mental health for First Nations people or young people.
  3. Patient-centred approaches for the treatment of substance use disorders, through co-design with health services and consumers for First Nations people, young people or women.
  4. Develop new approaches for pain management for individuals with a current or past substance use disorder.

The grant value is up to $3 million. Minimum data is due 9 Oct 2024.
