About the Opportunity
We Help Ourselves (WHOS) services located in NSW and QLD provide a range of programs for individuals who are seeking treatment for alcohol and other drug dependence.
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and motivated Registered Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team at our Hunter Residential Service, in Cessnock.
This position will liaise with community agencies including local GP’s, mental health services and withdrawal management services to coordinate care for WHOS clients from admission to discharge.
WHOS is a leader in AOD services with 52 years of experience providing therapeutic programs aimed at reducing the harm caused by alcohol and other drug dependence, whilst incorporating harm reduction and co-existing mental health support.
We provide residential therapeutic programs known as therapeutic communities or TCs, as well as community-based day programs offering support and care, including harm reduction services. What you’ll be doing
- Provide low level withdrawal support for residents within a psychosocial setting
- Provide mental health assessments for applicants and residents
- Provide an initial health assessment for residents at admission
- Manage residents medical appointments with local General Practitioners and other health agencies, including undertaking referrals
- Resident medication management in partnership with our nominated pharmacy
- Supervise self-administration of medications by residents
