Odyssey House’s Residential Programs is open to anyone wishing to address their dependence on alcohol and/or other drugs. The program aims to empower individuals and give them the self-confidence to manage the harms related to their substance use. Our Residential Programs utilise the therapeutic community model of treatment.
The Lived Experience Peer Worker will work alongside the treatment team AOD workers, the Mental Health Recovery Program (MHRP) Team and the Residential support workers using their lived experience of mental health and drug and alcohol issues to provide peer support to residents of Odyssey House Residential Programs.
The lived experience worker will co-facilitate groups, collaborate with clients and staff on case plans, risk assessments, safety plans and proposals. This position will support the treatment team in the collection of outcome measures and client feedback.
The role is crucial in the delivery of peer based brief intervention and client advocacy.
Requirement
- (Desirable) Relevant VET qualification
- (Desirable) Tertiary qualification in relevant field
- Lived experience of drug and alcohol and mental health issues
- Experience supporting persons with alcohol and other drugs support needs, mental health support needs and/or co-existing support needs.
- Demonstrable experience working in team environment to deliver coordinated support.
- Experience working within an AOD or Mental Health treatment program
- Experience in provision of one-to-one support for people with AOD and/or Mental Health support needs.
- Computer literacy including understanding of MS Office Suite and use of Client Management Systems (CMS’s)
Other Requirements
- (Desirable) Current NSW Drivers Licence
- Current successful National Police check
- Current Working With Children Check (WWCC) Number
- Right to live and work in Australia
