NUAA is a peer-led, community-driven organisation that promotes the health, rights, and dignity of people who use drugs. We create safe, inclusive spaces for people with LLE to learn, grow, and lead in harm reduction and related fields.

Our training and workforce development programs are developed and delivered by peers to ensure they are grounded in lived experience and tailored to meet the real-world needs of our community.

NUAA is seeking an LLE Workforce Development Worker to drive the growth, training, and empowerment of our peer workforce. This role is perfect for someone with lived or living experience of drug use who is dedicated to harm reduction and peer-led approaches.

In this role, you will work alongside a dynamic team to develop and deliver peer-led training and workforce development initiatives that support peers in building confidence, skills, and leadership in the harm reduction sector.

As NUAA’s Lived and Living Experience (LLE) Development Worker you will:

  • Develop and deliver engaging peer-led training (online and in-person) designed specifically for LLE workers in harm reduction, peer support, and advocacy.
  • Create accessible training materials that are peer-driven, evidence-informed, and aligned with best practices.
  • Mentor and support peers as they navigate workforce development opportunities, helping build their skills and confidence.
  • Contribute to NUAA’s digital training platform, ensuring online resources are engaging, accessible, and effective.
  • Support ongoing training evaluation and improvement by gathering participant feedback and monitoring program impact.

Requirement


Essential:

  • Lived or living experience of drug use and a strong commitment to peer-led approaches.
  • Experience in training, facilitation, or workforce development, particularly in peer, harm reduction, or AOD settings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage, mentor, and empower peers.
  • Strong organisational skills to coordinate training sessions, manage logistics, and track program outcomes.
  • A solid understanding of the harm reduction movement and the unique needs of the LLE workforce.
  • A commitment to NUAA’s values and a non-judgmental, inclusive approach.


Desirable:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) or equivalent (or a willingness to obtain).
  • Experience with e-learning platforms or digital training tools.
  • Knowledge of workforce development strategies for peers in harm reduction or related fields.
