Working with women in AOD treatment and responding to domestic and family violence

This one-day workshop will discuss the unique experiences and perspectives of women accessing AOD services.

It will explore best practice responses to survivors/victims of domestic and family violence (DFV) within the context of AOD treatment – including using NADAbase DFV screener.  The workshop brings to life the NADA Practice Guide: Working with women engaged in alcohol and other drug treatment, and will teach workers and organisations to improve work practices around becoming gender responsive, family inclusive and trauma informed. 
 
Workshop focus points include:  

  • women’s experience of AOD use and treatment 
  • responding to survivors/victims of DFV within the context of AOD treatment 
  • NADAbase DFV screener 
  • best practice approaches for engaging women  
  • actions for creating a gender-responsive organisation.  

The training will be presented by Michelle Ridley (Clinical Program Manager, NADA) and Tata de Jesus (Program Manager, NADA). 

Who should attend?
Anyone working at a NADA member service who would like to learn more about working with women engaged in AOD treatment and responding to DFV. There is no cost to attend the workshop.
